Sali Berisha

The premier Sali Berisha tries again to silence the Albanian judiciary and the President of the Republic silent.

October 30 2008, Tirana, Albania – After endless tug-of-war with the former Attorney General of the State Theodhori Sollaku, whom he accused of wanting to encourage illegal trafficking the then Socialist premier Fatos Nano, including trafficking in drugs and human beings, l ‘current premier Sali Berisha and his conservative clique, twenty years ago were all obedient Communists, is trying to silence and to the National Tirana, Mrs. Ina Rama.

At most representative Berisha Albanian accusation certainly does not forgive his relationship with Edi Rama, Mayor of Tirana, now its most accredited political opponent, likely next candidate in the elections which should take place in the country in two years. Berisha is haunted by the fact that the young and attractiveness attorney accused intends to make its system of power in order to cause the collapse of the Conservative Party and the Socialists favor with his head together.

According to conservatives, moreover, Ina Rama has begun its work of delegitimize the election results of past general elections, opening a file, the much-feared “Fazlic Dossier”, which should therefore demonstrate the powerful force of corruption Sali Berisha who was so altered the final outcome of the vote. Where, then, the current premier could not get by force of money, supports the Attorney General would seek reasons far more “convincing” to tame the risottos, agreeing with the local mafia.

In order to prevent investigations continue Berisha government has launched a commission of inquiry into the work of the national prosecutor. In practice the work of the young magistrate was Commissioner by Prime Minister and the work of the entire Albanian Public Prosecutor brought under the control of the executive. This revolution has been accomplished taking unaware Parliament and the President of the Republic.

The Albanian head of state, unlike his predecessor Alfred Moisiu, apparently still not willing to intervene by taking sides of one side rather than the other but the Socialists have already prompted the resignation of Berisha and intervention of the international community. To be honest already well in the recent political consultations, won by Berisha, the OECD had expressed strong doubts about their eligibility. The current president Bamir Topi is seriously considering the possibility silence Berisha to call a greater observance of democratic rules, especially after the intervention of the U.S. government that in order to vent inside the Tirana John Withers, was deployed to judge flank of Rama.

Albania is going through a delicate moment: After the last NATO summit in Bucharest, the small Balkan country was invited to join the military into the Atlantic but so far only six nations, nearly all former Warsaw Pact, have ratified the membership. The latest one time was the ratification and that Romania has assumed a particular significance for two reasons: firstly because Bucharest absolutely no intention unilaterally recognize the independence of Kosovo Albanian pro-and secondly because Romania and Italy are to present in Brussels a plan for overcoming the crisis in Kosovo through Serbia toward the European Union. The United States of Europe meanwhile condemns the political pollution of the judiciary and warns Albanian Tirana saying that “without a real independence of the judiciary in Albania closer to the European Union is delayed indefinitely.”
